Huawei is “excluded” from the SD Association and Wi-Fi Alliance

A Wi-Fi Alliance announcement announced the imposition of a temporary restriction on Huawei on their participation in the internal discussions. On the other hand, the SD Association will have excluded even the Chinese manufacturer of the organization, preventing the collaboration of Huawei in the definitions of new standards for SD memory cards.

The SD Association is a non-profit organization that controls SD product standards. This includes everything from standard full-size SD cards to microSD cards on smartphones. Also includes door designs that read these cards. If a company is not a member of the Association, it can not officially produce products with those standards.

The SD Association has confirmed that it is complying with the recent request from the US Department of Commerce that has placed Huawei on a kind of import blacklist. Huawei, through a spokesman, said microSD cards will still work on the brand's handsets.

It is recalled that, following the registration of Huawei on a blacklist by Donald Trump, several US companies and manufacturers announced the termination or suspension of relations with the Chinese company.
