Huawei and Unitel Bring Tech Students Together for Seeds for the Future Program

The 60 Angolan students who will benefit from the 2022 edition of the program “Seeds for the Future ”, a global corporate social responsibility program by Unitel and Huawei, which aims to train the best university students in the most advanced information and communication technologies (ICT).

According to what was revealed, university students will take classes for a week, in digital format, via Skype, fully technological with access to fixed and mobile broadband networks, with a focus on 5G and cloud computing.

The curriculum of the classes will focus on various technological topics, such as the internet of things, smart cities, among other issues that are part of the training program.

For Cecília Fernandes, manager for Unitel's social and cooperative area, speaking at the program's opening ceremony, she stressed that the objective is to provide participants with practices and prepare them in terms of technological knowledge.

The manager also explained that through the online platform, students will be able to visit the Shinzen camp, in China, and exchange experiences with other students. She also explained that the criteria for joining the training were several, highlighting the age limit of 30 years, intermediate knowledge of English, an average of not less than 14 points in the areas of communication and information technologies.

Nilton Roque, director of Public and Institutional Relations at Huawei, also speaking at the event, pointed out that the course is budgeted at US$120 per student and is extended to all countries where the company has representations.

He said that this year's cost is relatively lower, estimated at US$20 per participant, as it is being taught virtually, where leadership, management and the intercultural issue are part of the training program.

According to the official, this year, the Angolans are part of the group of Poles, democratic Congolese and Chinese.

The Seeds for the Future program is designed to provide university students with an experience of cultural immersion and introduction to Mandarin in Beijing, China, as well as a visit to the Huawei campus in Shenzhen, where students will be able to experience the work environment of a giant in the area of ​​information and communication technologies.

Since 2020, the organization has decided to reschedule for the virtual criterion, that is, to promote a trip to China in the virtual format, via Skype, to 60 students Angolan university students, which this year began on 21 November.

On the occasion, the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Pascoal Fernandes, reiterated the fundamental role of technologies in the country for contributing to the improvement of people's lives.

He also congratulated the program “Sementes do Futuro de Angola” for contributing to the training of young people.

In turn, the President of the Executive Board, Miguel Geraldes, asserted that Unitel's commitment is to renew training to help overcome areas of advanced technologies.

For Huawei director Chu Xiaoxin, the program aims to enable the development of local ICT talent ecosystems, as well as promote knowledge sharing and encourage young people from different countries and regions to participate in building digital communities.
