Huawei wants to strengthen digital literacy among women in Africa

A Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications company, has increased its training and mentoring targeting African women and girls to increase their digital skills as well as improve their employability in industries of the future.

This initiative was revealed by the company through a statement in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, also saying that the institution is committed to bridging the gender asymmetry with regard to digital skills across the sub-Saharan Africa region.

Through the emblematic program “Seeds for the Future”, Huawei has partnered with African governments to provide specialized training in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to women and girls.

BUT: Angolan women encouraged to pursue a technological career

Speaking of Angola, this program took place from the 1st to the 8th of November 2021, with the aim of developing local talent in ICT and increasing the transfer of knowledge. It is a sociocultural, socioeconomic and technological program that aims to add value to young talents who are studying higher education in the areas of ICT.

Just like our country, 13 other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, such as Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and Malawi, mobilized behind this same initiative to train more than 200 women in areas related to ICT, revealed Huawei.

It should also be noted that women's empowerment is an issue that has been raised a lot as a brake on development in Angola, and because of this, several initiatives have been raised with a solution.
