A IBM has now presented a somewhat “radical” solution, but which can be quite important for those who want to guarantee the security of their digital data. The company revealed a new SSD disk, which uses Artificial Intelligence to identify possible ransomware attacks.
The measurement is made at the disk level, therefore it does not require any software and works on any system. When a potential ransomware attack is identified, the disk “blocks” its activities, preventing it from encrypting a large volume of data.
At the moment, this technology is mainly focused on business systems and servers, so it is not something that is within the reach of the general consumer. However, the technology may prove to be important in the future, as an additional tool to prevent this type of attack.

This technology constantly monitors the reading and writing of data on the disk, and when it identifies patterns that can be considered ransomware activities, it applies a general disk block, preventing the writing or alteration of data on it.
As previously mentioned, these disks are currently focused on business or server systems, and it will still take some time before they become accessible to general users.
