O Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM) has been following the news published in recent weeks by some news organizations and social networks, which account for a likely increase in the prices of services provided by Mobile Telephony, Television and Internet Operators.
INACOM as the Regulatory Body for the Communications Sector
clarifies that:
- The prices of telecommunications services practiced by Operators in the provision of telecommunications services, are subject to their own regime, and are supervised by the Regulatory Body for Electronic Communications, whose amendment process requires prior consultation with the Electronic Communications Prices Committee, created under Presidential Decree 108/16 of 25 May, while
consultation body for these matters and associations for the protection of consumer rights; - In a situation of tariff increase, the regulatory body has the primacy of communicating in the first instance to the operators. These, in turn, must notify the respective consumers and should only implement the price change after compliance with the notice of 30 days;
- Tasks and investments in the telecommunications and information technologies, as well as studies to assess the cost of real, reasonable and fair, aim at maintaining the stability of the market, higher quality services and increasingly affordable prices;
And, in the absence of any of the aforementioned assumptions, INACOM informs that any news and / or pronouncements on any possible change in prices of mobile, television and Internet services at national level are unfounded.
