As of August 30th, the Instagram will end the “swipe up” functionality (“swipe-up", in English). The gesture can be used in short videos, called "stories" (or "stories“), to take a person who follows someone with more than 10 followers to other sites. The social network owned by Facebook will replace this gesture for hyperlinks with the “see more” button.

"To add a link à story, use the new sticker [something like a pressable symbol, in Portuguese]”, reads a notice that the platform has shown to users. The difference of this new symbol in relation to the "slide up" is that users can now respond to stories that have this symbol, which was not possible with the swipe-up.

For now, only users who already had the option to stories com swipe-up is that they will be able to use these new ones stickers. In addition to 10 followers, an account must be verified by the platform in order to use this feature. In the future, Instagram plans to extend this option to all users.

Instagram also said that, for now, only people who can use the “drag up” will receive the sticker option, but that it is still evaluating and providing this feature to more users. This update “will help us determine if it's the right decision before expanding access to more people,” a spokesperson told The Verge.
