O Meta co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced through a post shared on the social network Threads that Instagram now has more than 3 billion monthly active users.
Naturally, short-form Reels videos have been largely responsible for Instagram's growth in recent years, and—according to statements made by the platform's head, Adam Mosseri, to Bloomberg—the format will become even more important in the near future.
Instagram's plans include launching a new navigation bar that will give more prominence to Reels and private messages. Furthermore, the company also plans to conduct a test in South Korea and India that will allow users to choose the Reels feed as the first one to appear when they open the app.
