The short texts appear for 24 hours at the top of the recipients' message inbox, who can reply, as with 'stories'.
According to the social network, the tool meets the desire of many users to have an easy way to share what they are thinking and start conversations, for example, asking for recommendations or reporting something they are doing.
Instagram also plans to give the possibility to create group profiles, so that several people can share images and videos with each other, without these being seen by all followers.

The company also announced that it is testing a tool called Candid Stories, something like spontaneous stories, which will allow users to capture and share images of what they are doing at that moment with other contacts who are also doing it.
After publishing their first Candid Stories, users will receive a daily notification to share a new image.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the feature is similar to what is offered by the BeReal application, which has gained a lot of popularity recently, with a focus on more spontaneous images, which include an image taken with the front and back cameras of the phone.
In this way, users – who regularly receive notifications to share images – frequently show themselves and what they are looking at at the time.
