O Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri took advantage of his participation in Bloomberg's Screentime Conference to announce that the company is planning to launch a version of the app for televisions.

The project is part of Instagram's strategy to invest more in video content, with Mosseri even saying he wishes the initiative had started sooner.

Note, however, that this Instagram app would only feature user-generated content, and the social network is not expected to begin producing original programs, series, and films as is the case with other services also available for television.

Instagram's desire to launch its own TV app could help the social network compete with YouTube and TikTok, two rivals that have their own TV apps.

Below, you can see Mosseri talking about the strategy of launching a version of Instagram for large screens.
