Banking institutions obliged to create a technological platform that serves as an account database

Angolan banking institutions must create a technological platform that serves as a database of accounts, with the aim of centralizing, managing and monitoring the reporting of information provided by financial institutions regarding deposit accounts, payments and associated information.

This measure comes from the National Bank of Angola, in Notice nº 8/23 of July 17, obliging banking and non-banking financial institutions to create an Account Database (BDC).

As explained by the News, the account database is a system for recording technological information on bank and payment accounts managed by the BNA. The accounts are domiciled in national territory with financial institutions. The Notice is applicable to financial institutions under the supervision of the BNA and has been in effect since July 10th.

As for the responsibilities for the information contained in the account database, the same rests with the financial institutions that report it, and it is up to them exclusively to rectify or change it, on their own initiative or at the request of their customers, whenever errors or omissions occur. BNA may, whenever necessary, request access to information contained in the tax identification database, managed by AGT.
