iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13: what has changed?

2384
In the past, Apple has made huge changes to its new iPhone every year, but the iPhone 14 model seems to be an exception. And the reason is that, for the first time, the iPhone 14 uses the same A15 processor as the previous iPhone 13 model, and it's not as if Apple has stopped innovating. We still have a new A16 chip, but it's only available on iPhone 14 Pro .

Design and display quality

The iPhone 14 looks and feels almost the same as the current iPhone 13 model. The 6,1-inch form factor and the design on the flat side remain the same, as does the dual camera system on the rear. The iPhone 14 is made of glass on the back and front with an aluminum frame in the middle.
On the front, the iPhone 14, like the iPhone 13, has a 6,1-inch OLED screen with the familiar notch (the new i-shaped cutout is only available on the iPhone 14 Pro series). What matters here is what hasn't changed: the iPhone 14 still runs at 60Hz, so you don't have support for the ProMotion 120Hz as in the Pro models. Screen brightness remains the same with a peak of up to 1.200 nits.

Performance and software

A big news, or rather lack thereof, is that Apple is mostly using the same chip A15 Bionic on the iPhone 14 as well as the iPhone 13. This unprecedented move might disappoint many who are used to a performance upgrade, but still, we should mention that the version of the A15 on the latest iPhone comes with a 5-core GPU that offers a graphical increase of almost 20%, so this could be considered the consolation prize.

Chamber

The iPhone 14, like its predecessor, has two cameras on the back, a main and an ultra-wide, in a similar diagonal arrangement. Unfortunately, none of the phones come with a lens. telephoto dedicated camera, which hurts zoom performance (and gives Apple a reason to talk you into getting a pricier Pro model).

BUT: Apple: watchOS 9 coming later this month

The iPhone 14 is upgraded to a larger sensor size with the same 12MP resolution as before and is now paired with a faster f/1.5 aperture. The hardware of the ultra-wide camera is the same, but in fact all newer model cameras benefit from a new processing model called Photonic engine.
On the video front, both phones support up to 4K video, but you get new stabilization similar to Action Mode Gimbal for extreme conditions where the user needs to run with the iPhone in their hands.

audio quality and haptics

One of the most underrated improvements in the iPhone 13 was undoubtedly the beefier, richer speakers that offered better sound quality than most other phones on the market. O Haptics will take care of Taptic Engine, which has been excellent, and we don't expect to see any changes there.

Battery Life and Charging

Last year, Apple made a huge leap in battery life with the iPhone 13 series, but the new iPhone 14 basically offers the same battery life as its glorious predecessor.
Apple says the iPhone 14 lasts 16 hours for video streaming (up from the estimated 15 hours on the iPhone 13) and for audio playback, the iPhone 14 packs in 80 hours, a little more than the 75 hours you get out of the iPhone 13, so a battery boost is present, but not a big deal.

Do you prefer the iPhone 13 or 14?
