But it seems that Messenger did not stop there, since Facebook announced today that its messaging service now supports 4K photo sharing. Now users will be able to upload images “up to 4,096 x 4,096 pixels per image”.

According to Facebook, Messenger users send 17 billion photos through the service monthly and many users have asked that they be able to send the said photos in higher resolutions, the photos in 4K will be sent as quickly as in any other resolution.

Whoever has their application updated will automatically send their high-resolution photos to their friends when they take them off the camera roll.

This update will be released today for system users iOS e Android the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea. Facebook plans to bring it to other countries in the coming weeks.
