O WhatsApp it is an excellent communication tool, but it has some limitations that are annoying, despite Meta, the company that owns the network, justifying it with privacy reasons. One of those limitations drops now, after being promised a month ago. We can finally link a WhatsApp account to two iPhones.

This option had already been released for Android. However, the market lacked iPhone which now gets this option.

Today, App Store version 23.10.76 is available and refers to the following:

Now you can use WhatsApp on multiple phones. To pair an iPhone as a companion device, tap the “Pair this device” option on the mobile number registration screen.

Now, as with Android, activation of WhatsApp Companion Mode happens on the first launch of the application on the second device. The user must start the registration process and, instead of providing the phone number, select the option “Link this device to an existing account” and follow the pairing process. Of course, a primary iPhone is required to complete the process.

BUT: WhatsApp will no longer have mobile numbers

Then, on the secondary iPhone, the user can send and receive messages just as they would on the primary device. As is the norm, also in this situation the conversations are protected by end-to-end encryption, even if they are visible on more than one device.

The synchronization of conversations will be done after the user scans the QR code on the main iPhone. As it will go through all the histories, it is possible that it takes some time.

This is yet another novelty that brings greater usability and also joins others that increase both security and even the tentacularity of the network.
