We are not even close to the festive season, but Microsoft has already decided to surprise users by reducing 10.000Kz (100 USD) from the original Xbox One price as well as not including Kinect. In an unexpected move Microsoft simply positioned its console next to PS4 in terms of pricing and that same version is already available on Amazon and BestBuy, in pre-order.
This move by Microsoft was surprising because in August last year, company executive Phil Harisson revealed that Microsoft had no plans to launch the Xbox One without Kinect. Over time, ideas changed a little, as evidenced by the head of Xbox at Microsoft, Phil Spencer said these words:
We hear that you want to have more options when purchasing an Xbox One. You want a wide variety of entertainment options and games as well as hardware selection. But despite this, we believe that Kinect is an important part of our services.
Spencer also unveiled some statistical data related to Kinect usage: over 80 percent of all Xbox One owners actively use Kinect, with an average of 120 voice commands per month on each console.
Despite these good numbers, Microsoft thought seriously about those 20% or 15% who do not use Kinect, and also those users whose goal is simply games, and as we know many of them do not need the sensor. But above all comes the price that may not have made much difference for those who live in the USA but for us Angolans, we can enjoy the console without paying so much.
