A Epic Games he kept his promises when he revealed last Thursday (2014/05/08) the plans for the next chapter of the franchise Unreal Tournament.
In the Twich Stream event the developers of the game revealed that work on the new game began that day. They also revealed that they are taking a unique approach to making the game completely free and will be built from scratch using the U, with a collaborative effort that includes a small team of Unreal Tournament veterans, developers of Unreal Motor 4, and fans of the franchise.
Epic Games is directing development to the 3 usual platforms on the market, Windows, Mac and Linux with all the codes and content available to developers of Unreal Engine 4 via GitHub. The title will stay true to its roots and another big news is the virtual reality initiatives for the Oculus Rift.
As for the development time, Epic was quick to clarify that the game will take many months until it reaches a playable state since they are actually starting from scratch. As mentioned earlier, the game will be free, although Epic is planning to eventually create a market where developers, modders, artists and players can donate, buy and sell mods and content. Profit from the market will be split between the content creator and Epic Games, so they will finance the title.
