On the past day 7 the sports channel Sport Tv transmitted around the 19 hours simultaneously to 46 countries a "small" documentary about the game Football Manager. Relying on former football stars as Albertini e Solskjaer among other personalities from the world of football and electronic sports, this is a documentary to be seen by any football fan, both in its real aspect and in its virtual side.

How could a game that consisted of text only, without some graphics, be able to become one of the longest series of games in the history of video games? How does a game launch a new title almost every year since 1992 and not only keep cool and interesting how to become one of the most played games worldwide? How does a video game, which by definition is something virtual, get to the point of affecting the real world that it pretends to simulate?

It is these and other issues that this documentary tries to answer in 50 minutes. Although it has not addressed much of the experience of the casual player, or simply not fanatical about the game and the interaction between players, the game has focused more on the experience of those players more dedicated to the game (to the point of for example agreeing the woman in the middle of the night on the eve of an important day just to tell her that she just won the Champions league in the game). This is a documentary that can demonstrate well the passion that this simulation of the experience of a coach generates in the players. During this documentary we also get to know some of the beginning and history of the game, whose idea came to be rejected by Eletronic Arts, to know that after all is a game enough played by football players and coaches (it must be funny to play with himself), which has been used several times by clubs and even selections leading for example Celtic to want to hire Leonel Messi when he had about 16 or 17 years and the players of the Italy team to give information about the opponents players using the game.

Watching this documentary I mostly identified with the players who talked about their experience with the game (although it never got to the point of wearing a suit to play a game final). I loved to see the game portrayed with something impressive by the positive for non-gamer and I was even more convinced that Sporting Clube de Portugal should have even used the Football Manager to define Jonathan Silva as a target for hiring, after all he is one of the most promising left defenders of FM 14 and maybe Augusto Inácio even used the database we at the Less Threads we create for you shortly after the game has left.
