[Games] Tomb Raider does not reach expected sales

Despite being a fantastic game, acclaimed by all critics, the first adventure of this new Laura Croft failed to reach Square Enix's sales forecasts. Tomb Raider, not counting virtual sales, sold 3,4 million units which, according to its producer, is not enough given what the game would need to sell.

The truth is that Square Enix, despite being highly praised in almost all its games, has had sales below expectations. The producer recently explained that one reason to expect a high level of sales (in addition to the quality of its games of course) is that there has been a great deal of pressure in relation to game prices, which has forced the company to invest even more capital to be able to protect their price.

Last week Yoichi Wada, President of Square Enix, resigned because of "extraordinary losses".
