Share information or photos on social networking platforms such as Facebook e Instagram it has become a habit for many. But Kaspersky Lab's survey warns about the amount of personal data that people share in the public domain.

The survey shows that worldwide, the majority (93%) of people share their information digitally, 70% of them share photos and videos of their children and 45% share confidential and sensitive videos and photos of others. These habits are even worse among the younger generations, who are making large amounts of their personal information accessible to strangers.

Almost half (44%) of Internet users publish their information without restrictions, since the data goes into the public domain, and from there they can follow other directions far beyond the control of their owners.

About 42% of young people aged 16 to 24 years share their financial and payment details with people of little confidence, compared with only 27% of those over 55 years of age.

Sharing confidential data with strangers limits the ability to control how the information is later used. According to Kaspersky Lab, 37% of people are exposing themselves to identity theft or financial attack by sharing financial and payment details, 41% are exposing data on their passports, driving licenses and other personal documents and 30% are exposing your passwords.

The study also shows that 61% of young people (aged 16 to 24) are the most likely to share private and sensitive photos of themselves with people who have little intimacy and 38% of people over 55 are the ones who share the most private and sensitive photos.

We encourage all Internet users to put security measures in place to protect their data and privacy.
