A Kaspersky, an independent Russian-based cybersecurity and online security provider, announced the launch of a new Windows Incident Response training course. This is to offer InfoSec's internal cybersecurity teams and professionals an opportunity to expand their analytical skills in the incident response domain, especially in the midst of a ransomware attack. The entire course can be taken online.
According to the recent global survey by Kaspersky surveyed among senior non-IT managers and business owners, 73% of companies cannot handle a ransomware attack alone or with the help of regular IT service providers.
In recent years, the lack of skilled technical staff that can detect and respond to complex incidents, along with a lack of visibility into infrastructure and consistent management, have been the biggest challenges for companies when dealing with complicated cyber threats.
Kaspersky's recent global study titled “How Do Business Executives Perceive the Ransomware Threat? ” confirms that the majority of companies (73% globally) will have to seek help from external incident response providers in the event of a ransomware attack. This is despite the fact that 66% of global respondents feel that there is a high possibility of such attacks in their organization.

And it's also likely that companies that have never experienced a ransomware attack overestimate the skills of their regular security providers and in-house IT teams. Statistics show that organizations that have been previously exposed to these threats rely less on their existing resources.
For companies looking to enhance the expertise of their in-house digital forensics and incident response teams, as well as IT security professionals looking to refresh relevant skills, Kaspersky has expanded its portfolio of specialist online training.
The self-guided training course includes 40 video lectures and 100 hours of virtual lab for hands-on learning. The estimated training duration is 15 hours, but participants will have six months of access to the platform to complete the training.
