The two and three rear cameras have become "normal" in today's smartphones. Now there are rumors that the Nokia you are preparing a device with five lenses. THE LG took a step further and registered the patent for a phone with 16 cameras.

Discovered initially by LetsGoDigital, the patent suggests matrix arrangements of 16 chambers with different curvatures. These formations could be used to take pictures of an object from different angles and even produce a moving image.

The images in the patent note still indicate that the camera configuration on the back of the phone displays a mirror for selfies and a flash below the lens set. A smartphone from 16 cameras could use data from multiple sets to fill gaps that could get lost in a single camera photo.

The LG patent also suggests that a device that can be used to create super detailed HDR images, or even to help cut and paste subjects from one part of the photo into another, something like a turbulent faceswap feature.

And for those who want to take selfies with many cameras, the LG patent also describes the option of adding a mirror and a speaker to the back of the device, thus increasing the possibilities of use.

For now, there is no indication as to when LG will have a prototype with this integrated 16 camera system, as it has dealt with patent registration for the time being.
