We are practically at the end of an era. The era of traditional television, where users were stuck in programming.

As smart TVs have gained the preference of the users and the companies invest more to develop this technology that allows to make the connection between the TV and the Internet.

LG invested in WebOS, the old smartphone operating system, and migrated it to smart TVs.

In 2016, the LG will bring WebOS 3.0 to CES in Las Vegas, along with its TV launch plan for the year. A visual overhaul of webOS is not expected. Instead, webOS 3.0 will bring features designed to try to modernize LG devices, especially now that set-top boxes cheaper ones have become more powerful and compete with TVs with native software.

WebOS 3.0 has some notable features. Possibility to divide the screen into two different channels at the same time, or one channel and another source such as a Blu-ray player. You can also run the LG Music Player app through your speaker setup with the TV off, as well as control smart LG devices using LG's app.
