The province of Luanda is the place with the most mining of cryptocurrencies, with emphasis on the municipalities of Talatona, Belas, Viana (Luanda-Sul), Kicolo, Sequele, in the village of Cacuaco, according to SIC-geral spokesperson, Manuel Halaiwa.
The person in charge, who was speaking about the detention of a group of Chinese citizens who were arrested for mining cryptocurrency, reinforced that this activity is illegal and that whoever carries it out will incur the crimes of theft of electricity from the public grid, illegal exercise of economic activity and criminal association.
Manuel Halaiwa reported that the Chinese citizens were operating in the municipality of Icolo Bengo, in Luanda, where they disguised their activity inside the shipyard of a company assembling electricity transmission towers.
According to the source, the foreigners aged between 30 and 34 connected the materials in two pavilions, where several refrigeration systems for the cryptocurrency machines were installed.

It should be noted that the Angolan parliament recently approved, in general and unanimously, the proposed law on the mining of cryptocurrencies and other virtual assets, a legal instrument that aims to safeguard Angolan monetary sovereignty and control virtual currencies.
"This law is based on a set of elements that have occurred and that, in some way, impact not only on environmental sustainability, but also on the country's energy security.”, said the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Otoniel dos Santos, today during the presentation of the document in the National Assembly (parliament).
The legislative initiative by the holder of executive power and Angolan President, João Lourenço, passed the scrutiny of deputies at this Friday's extraordinary plenary meeting with 167 votes in favor, zero against and no abstentions.
Otoniel dos Santos, in his presentation, recognized that the country already has an unregulated cryptocurrency mining movement with risks of promoting money laundering and financing terrorism.
