Angola's largest internet traffic exchange platform, Angonix, reached a new record last week by processing 26 Gigabytes (GB) of traffic, MenosFios learned in an official note.

This record shows an 85% growth in internal internet consumption in Angola, based on the 14 GB recorded in 2019.

According to what was revealed, this milestone took place on the platform that is based in the country's capital, Luanda, the same that hosts the main world technological giants, such as Facebook, Microsoft and G-Core, and where they are currently integrated in this same digital ecosystem. more than thirty companies.

"There are more people and companies benefiting from the economic and social gains of the internet, with Angonix leveraging the exchange of traffic between national and international networks active on the platform. This is one of the main barometers for growth in the volume of internet traffic in the country, keeping local traffic local“, said Crisóstomo Mbundu, Gaming Project Coordinator at Angola Cables, quoted in the note.

In recent times, based on the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Angola has witnessed a great massification of telework and distance learning, and where upgrading the infrastructure has been the main factors contributing to the growth trend of the digital economy in the country, which means greater efficiency, quality and cost reduction of internet services.

It should be noted that Angonix is ​​managed by Angola Cables, and allows the optimization of traffic generated from Angola, thus reducing the need for data to transit through international connections, thus resulting in multiple gains for operators active on the platform and a better experience for internet users.

It is an aggregator platform for local and global networks such as internet service providers (ISPs), digital content distribution networks (CDNs), and where Angonix also provides a set of features for entities with special needs, sensitive to low latency, namely health with telemedicine, financial segment with the interconnection to stock exchanges, teaching-learning system and other sectors in order to minimize costs and maximize the quality of internet browsing.
