
More than 40 Angolan professionals and students from all over the country are participating in the international course “Building sustainable capacity in the Angolan space workforce: opportunities and challenges”, the MenosFios editorial team learned through a note from the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN).
The training cycle is taught by the author and partner of Teaching Science & Technology (TSTI), Jerry Jon Sellers, the course, lasting two months, is derived from the bestseller Understanding Space: An Introduction to Astronautics, and aims to transfer knowledge about the Space sector.
According to the note, projections indicate that, by 2035, the space economy could expand to USD 1,8 trillion, driven by advances in satellite technology, launch services and space applications.
There are plans to launch 105 more satellites by 2026. However, the space industry is struggling with a shortage of qualified workers, at a time when it is estimated that 80 jobs will be created by 2025.
Taking this into consideration, 40 participants from the 18 provinces were selected, based on their engagement in this year's activities.

It should be noted that the topics to be studied include “The State of Space in Africa”, “Workforce Challenges in the Aerospace Industry”, “Importance of Training for the Aerospace Workforce”, “ANGOSAT Operator Qualification Program (AOQP)”.
TSTI offers over 80 Space Systems Engineering courses per year, ranging from basic fundamental training, tools and techniques, to advanced applications in the Space sector. Over the years, TSTI has trained specialists from NASA, ESA and the GGPEN, for example.
