After accounting for more than 100 units of phones sold, Sunmax, an Angolan mobile phone brand installed in the country a year ago, announced a new investment of US$10 million, with the aim of increasing the range of models from nine to 15, with 10 digits and five analogues.

Os six new smartphone models from the brand, presented last May, bring “improved characteristics and affordable prices” to the Angolan market, according to Ranhao Lin, founder of the brand.

The Chinese businessman outlines as the brand's central challenge, for this year, "to reach all Angolan families", with at least 600 distributors spread across the country.

"With its rapid growth and popular approval, we plan to expand the business, exporting to other countries in Southern Africa, such as Namibia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Mozambique and others, always seeking to meet the needs of the Angolan people and contribute to economic development and social in the region“, he refers.

BUT: Sunmax intends to dominate the smartphone sector in Angola

The factory, which already has six assembly lines in operation, has an installed capacity for the production of two to three thousand mobile phones daily. And, in addition to cell phones, the company produces digital and analogue watches, a job carried out by its more than 400 employees.

It should be noted that last year Sunmax signed a partnership with the mobile operator Unitel for the production and customization of some of the operator's devices. So far, the company says it is producing five models for the operator, from analogue to digital. For this year, the company plans to sign yet another agreement, this time with Africell, which plans to provide personalized devices with the operator's name.

"Negotiations are well advanced.“, stressed the company manager.
