Menongue wins free broadband internet access points

The city of Menongue, capital of the Cuando Cubango, gained three new free internet access points “broadband”, which appears within the scope of the “Angola Online” project of the National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI).

The restored internet access points are installed in the Doutor António Agostinho Neto square, next to the Government Headquarters of the province of Cuando Cubango, at the main station of the Moçâmedes Railway (CFM) and the Rectory of the Cuito Cuanavale University (UCC ).

The project, an initiative of INFOSI, a public body under the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, aims to promote the development of the information society in Angola.

According to the deputy general director of the institution, Marcos Damão, speaking to ANGOP, he said that this measure is still part of the revitalization of the project in Cuando Cubango and where six new internet access points will be installed in September. Manongue and in the communes of Caiundo and Jamba Cuio, in the municipalities of Cuchi and Cuito Cuanavale.

BUT: Moxico without internet access points for several years

As for the students in the territory, they consider the installation of free internet in the Doutor António Agostinho Neto square and in other points of the urban core of the city of Menongue an added value, as it allows the investigation of scientific contents and subjects without any costs.

They added that the free internet will bring great advantages to all those who dedicate themselves to research work and also to those who seek information, at a time when the academic year begins next September.
