A Microsoft announced last Friday, the 19th, that its systems were invaded by Russian hackers belonging to the well-known Midnight Blizzard group, indicating that they managed to access a "very small percentage" of executive email accounts.
It appears that the hackers were targeting the emails of the senior leadership team and also members of the cybersecurity departments. It is believed that the objective of Midnight Blizzard was to find information about the group itself, managing to obtain "some emails and attached documents".

"The attack was not the result of a vulnerability in Microsoft products and services. To date, there is no evidence that the person responsible has had access to customer environments, production systems, source codes or Artificial Intelligence systems.", said a Microsoft spokesperson.
