A Microsoft announced the availability of training sessions in artificial intelligence (AI) for the general public. The classes in the Microsoft AI Professional Program were part of the internal training of company employees and now, they can be seen by the general public.
The company announced the Microsoft Professional Program in AI, the new learning track open to the public. The program offers work-ready skills and real-world experience for engineers and others who want to hone their skills in AI and data science through a series of online courses that feature hands-on labs and specialized instructors.
The program is part of a broader corporate effort, which also includes the company's developer-focused AI School, which provides online videos and other resources to help practitioners develop AI skills.
"This program includes general educational tools for developers who want to expand the capabilities of artificial intelligence and specific guidance on how developers can use Microsoft tools and services."
According to Susan Dumais, scientist and assistant director at Microsoft Research AI, the AI training opportunities available to Microsoft employees and the public reflect a broader push across the technology industry to fill a gap in workers with Artificial Intelligence skills.
AI is increasingly important in the way our products and services are designed and delivered, and this is also true for our customers, "she said. Fundamentally, we are all interested in developing talents that are capable of building, understanding, and designing systems that have AI as a central component.
