Angola must create intersectoral strategies to include the country in international and regional telecommunications systems and networks, according to the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Pascoal Fernandes.

Speaking at the 3rd edition of the Angola Digital Forum, the government official reiterated that it is important to create more investments and infrastructures to continue the investments made in terms of telecommunications infrastructures, in order to improve the quality of access to digital services.

The Secretary of State recognized the relevance of digital transformation in promoting social development and economic prosperity. The Executive's priority, he highlighted, is to establish a resilient telecommunications infrastructure, capable of guaranteeing universal access to broadband services for the entire population.

"The Executive remains committed to consolidating the liberalization of the broadband market, promoting competition and encouraging the sharing of electronic communications infrastructures, to maximize the efficiency of network implementation”, he stressed.

Currently, he said, the Executive has carried out several projects focused on digital transformation, with emphasis on the Connect Angola, whose objective is to bring free Internet access to remote areas through the Angosat-2, the Ngola Digital project, created for training and IT in schools and communities, and the project Angola Online, designed to create free public Internet access points.
