Telecommunications are currently one of the driving sectors of socio-economic development in Angola, according to the Secretary of State for Telecommunications, Pascoal Fernandes.

Speaking at the ceremony for the awarding of diplomas to 216 IT, Electronics, Telecommunications and Multimedia Systems technicians, trained for four years by the Telecommunications Institute (ITEL), the leader stressed that local and global telecommunications networks, he added, are responsible for an enormous circulation of information.

"Angola cannot do without an efficient telecommunications system, capable of bringing knowledge and digital services to all locations", said.

BUT: Angola wants 80% of the population to have access to broadband services by 2030

In the opinion of the Secretary of State, this development is only possible with trained human resources capable of working in the technical and technological areas, with the necessary qualifications, to work in various companies, public and private, or set up their own businesses.

As for the most recent technicians in the telecommunications and technology sector, Pascoal Fernandes indicated that it is an important milestone in the lives of the finalists, who, with sacrifice and dedication, concluded one of the decisive stages of life.

"Now is the time to define goals and objectives, in the professional sphere".

The Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, guaranteed, has been making efforts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, to have better working conditions, from the point of view of technical infrastructure, for young people to provide services in a dignified manner.

Educational institutions, he said, play a very important role and ITEL is no exception to the rule.

"For this reason, I express the highest esteem to the professors and staff of the institute, who have been working unselfishly over the years”, he reiterated.
