The number of programmers in Africa continues to grow substantially, with many projects gradually gaining recognition. Recently, the largest programming marathon in Southern Africa was held in Johannesburg, called “Geekulcha Hackathon"An event that seeks technological solutions to meet the challenges of businesses, governments and communities.

A competition had as its central theme "Digital Collaborative Economy". During the marathon, Miwanda Lainissi (Mozambican) and his team, made up of three more South Africans, created the "Open Kasi", A platform that facilitates the business transactions of small business owners, the platform won the second place in the contest.

The young programmer confessed that she did not count on the victory, because they participated in the contest 200 marathon, of which 13 were national. He said the second place in the competition is the result of hours of research, work and dedication.

According to Miwanda Lainisi, "Being among the winners is proof that women can get more. We have the strength, capacity and skills to develop technological solutions for the growth of society. "

Miwanda Lainissi is a finalist of the Informatics Engineering course at the Higher Institute of Sciences and Technologies of Mozambique (ISCTEM). The student is a member of the MozDevz (Community of Developments of Mozambique) since 2015 and founder of the community Muthiana Code, which congregates more than 100 women programmers.
