Mozambique must embrace digital culture

The largest volume of business these days is done in the digital world, which is why Mozambique needs to take advantage of these digital platforms, according to several experts during the Portuguese-speaking communication sciences conference. In unison, the panelists argue that it is necessary to inculcate digital culture in citizens to achieve this goal.

Intervening during the conference, professor Esselina Macome, who spoke as moderator, said that it is not uncommon for companies to confuse when to compete and collaborate due to the fact that they have inherited the maxim that “the secret is the soul of the business".

For Esselina Macome, there will be no digital transformation without investing in partnerships and collaborative work, if everyone wants to do it alone they won't get far. In the digital world, the secret is collaboration, she emphasized.

"There is still a lot of resistance from people about where they can collaborate and where they can compete. They think that everything is competition", said.

It is necessary to look at education as a driver for digital transformation, creating more investments, as if there is more competence it will encourage a change in mentality. The chairman of the board of directors of Mozambique Airports, Américo Muchanga, noted that the digitalization of services in all its fullness was urgent.

For Muchanga, the country is vast and sometimes citizens travel distances looking for internet services, which is why in his opinion it is necessary to obtain the service from where you are without having to travel far, this would greatly contribute for a step forward.

"We need to create a digital identity through a system that allows people to access services remotely and identify individually and correctly“, he stated, adding the need to consolidate existing instruments.

For the representative of National Institute of Communications of Mozambique (INCM) it is necessary to extend digital infrastructures for the process of digitalization and digital transformation.
