Mozambique is the country in Africa with the highest growth in developers or computer software creators, revealed the Africa Developer Ecosystem 2021 report, developed by Google and the consultancy Accenture.

With a growth of 10%, Mozambique is the African country that grew the most in percentage terms, although in terms of the number of African developers it is led by South Africa, with 119 developers.

The study collected data from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia and Mozambique, in what is the second in a series of studies on the state of the internet economy on our continent, which concludes, in a broader view, that it has the potential to reach 5,2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2025, contributing with almost 180 thousand millions of dollars to the African economy.

And the projected potential contribution could even, in the medium term, reach 712 billion dollars by 2050.

"However, to achieve this potential, we must provide better access to high-quality, world-class skills on mobile technology platforms, along with increasing connectivity services. Our effort to increase connectivity is centered on infrastructure, devices, tools and product location”, explains Nitin Gajria, director of sub-Saharan Africa at Google.
