More than twenty-five Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) completed the first cycle of training and support for digital entrepreneurship, called iCreate, sponsored by Eni Rovuma Basin, in partnership with Area 4 and the Standard Bank Business Incubator.

According to a statement from a source at Eni, speaking to the Newspaper, this program was created based on the local content plan of the Coral do Sul project, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of SMEs already consolidated in the Mozambican market, and making them more competitive and sustainable in the long term.

iCreate lasted 12 weeks, that is, from September 30 to December 15, and the program promoters thought about creating it taking into account the challenges and needs that many SMEs in Mozambique have been going through, given the uncertainties generated by the current economic situation.

Still talking about iCreate, it should be noted that it was divided into three phases and consisted of individual counseling sessions conducted by a business consultant certified by Growth wheel, where the selected companies had the opportunity to make a 360° assessment of their business strategy.

It should also be noted that the program also had seven workshops, with the objective of helping small entrepreneurs to identify opportunities to promote changes in their businesses and eleven “masterclass”, which covered topics such as the digital market, health, safety and the environment, contracts and acquisitions, access to finance and much more.

Speaking to journalists, the Director General of Eni Rovuma Basin, Giorgio Vicini, informed about the importance of supporting the development of SMEs, highlighting that “Area 4 partners are fully committed to developing local content".

"this program is part of our efforts to improve the capacities of Mozambican SMEs, in order to allow them to participate more actively in the economic development of the country” added the Manager.

Finally, the SMEs that participated in the program considered it an added value for their businesses.
