The information was announced by the Maputo Municipal Council, and the initiative is aligned with the Municipal Digital Youth Program, which aims to universally promote information and communication platforms in all neighborhoods of the municipality.

The Digital Resources Center, with free internet access (Wi-Fi), is located in the Library of the CMM Headquarters Building, in Praça da Independência, and has sixteen computers designed to support teaching, learning and technological inclusion of young people.

The project's implementation comes about a year after the Municipality of Maputo signed a memorandum of understanding with the mobile operator Movitel for its execution.

According to the Mayor, Razaque Manhique, the initiative helps young people and residents access information of public and educational interest.

On that occasion, the Municipality received fifty-five computers, out of the one hundred and five planned, intended for equipping the Digital Resource Centers to be created over the next five years.

Soon, the initiative is expected to be extended to seven more municipal districts, each with a similar center, thus expanding opportunities for access to the digital and virtual world.
