Students, scientific researchers and technological innovators from the province of Tete were called upon to develop solutions to the challenges of rural communities with a view to improving the lives of the population of this region of Mozambique.

The exhortation was made in the city of Tete by the director of the Provincial Services for Economy and Finance, Luís Bongisse, at the opening of the XNUMXst Science, Technology, Innovation Fair and XNUMXnd Scientific and Technological Days in the province.

He explained that there is a tendency to take issues related to technological innovation lightly in this region of the country, a way of thinking, according to him, that must be changed.

"Technological evolution is one of the great drivers of development processes, because it contributes to efficiency, reduction of operating costs, speed of processes and much more. Therefore, when we discuss this issue we have to be very proactive and participatory.”, he recommended.

He exemplified that the current level of public finance management has improved a lot, with research and technological innovation in the sector, contrary to the previous reality in which to pay salaries in the Civil Service it was necessary to carry money in suitcases. However, with the introduction of e-SISTAFE, this scenario has changed.

He guaranteed that the Government will continue to make efforts to ensure that the promotion of equitable access to science and technology is accompanied by appropriate strategies to encourage society to contribute to the development of science.

He warned, on the other hand, that scientific research and innovation projects should respond to the aspirations of growth and socioeconomic development of the province, in the context of compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Government's Five-Year Programme, in order to be able to be a added value for the country.
