Gone are the days when starting projects and business ideas was only possible when you had your own financial resources. Fortunately, for a few years now, crowdfunding platforms have given space for new entrepreneurs to spread their ideas, acquire social engagement and get financial support to make their dreams come true.

An example of this are the various Mozambican entrepreneurs who managed to leverage their business proposals from the resources they raised in the Midowe, a platform that aims to help people get financial support for personal, business-related, and social causes.

Created by founder Mário Elísio, a young Mozambican and Digital Marketing Strategist, the space allows the creation of campaigns, supporting social causes, digital influencers, youtubers, among other creators of digital content.

Speaking for the digital magazine Kabum Digital, Mário Elísio stresses that one of the advantages of the platform is the integration of mobile wallet and online payment solutions, such as M-Pesa and Paypal. The amount donated will only go to the fundraiser if the authenticity of the request is confirmed, if not, the money will be refunded.

“Dreams can come true, and that the future can be better than the past”, emphasizes the platform in its official slogan.

Also to inform, in terms of sustainability, so far Midowe does not charge any fee for using the platform. It is non-profit, with the aim of maintaining its survival through tips that can be donated by users when making donations on the platform itself.
