
Standard Bank, in agreement with the Lioness of Africa and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mozambique, recently organized the first edition of the year Lioness Lean In Live Webinar, which consists of a virtual event for sharing experiences and establishing partnerships in the business sector among women entrepreneurs.
Tanuja Viriato, senior manager of Africa China Banking at Standard Bank, in her opening speech said that Lioness Lean in Breakfast has made its contribution to the emergence of new Mozambican entrepreneurs, as well as to the growth of those already in the Business.
"The products and services of Mozambican women entrepreneurs have been penetrating not only the national market, but also the regional one, and this is a sign of growth and demonstrates that this initiative is relevant“, said the manager.

On the other hand, the founder and executive director of Lionesses of Africa, Melanie Hawken, urged the participants to leave their comfort zone and invest in technological innovation in order to stand out in the economic market.
"Growth only begins when we leave our comfort zone and start devising new strategies to face the challenges that prevent us from taking the first step. Likewise, we have to be assertive in our approaches and focus on the entrepreneurial journey”, stressed Melanie Hawken.
Also present at the event was the person in charge of the Cooperation Area at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mozambique, Marteen Rusch, who spoke about the importance of this Wbinar, where it has the potential to promote the development of the female entrepreneurship ecosystem in Mozambique.
"We prioritize girls and women in all our interventions and it is in this context that we support various initiatives to promote female entrepreneurship in Mozambique. Therefore, we hope that the achievements and experiences shared by the speakers will serve as inspiration for other women. Therefore, it is important that we reflect on the challenges that women face in their daily lives." mentioned Marteen Rusch.
About the event, it should be noted that the speakers were Gércia Sequeira (ITIS – Institute of Technologies, Innovation and Solutions), Taciana Lopes (Law Office LTPA and Mozambique Women of Energy), Yolanda Matine (Azura), Anna Karina de Sousa (Executive Nails), as well as Sofia Maquile (Smaq) and Aurora Matavel (SCS) who, as exhibitors, spoke about their products and services.
