More than ninety Mozambican women, aged between 18 and 25, were trained this year, in the city of Maputo, in matters of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), within the scope of the MuvaTech project, a program implemented by the Associação de Nutrição e Segurança Food in partnership with the Women's Economic Empowerment Program (MUVA) and the Municipal Council of Maputo (CMCM).

The MuvaTech project is a program that aims to train girls in vulnerable situations, in ICT matters and in human training, where according to information revealed by Kerry Selvester, responsible for Muva, of the more than 90 girls selected, 88 finished the course with success and were offered paid internships for two years.

"Thirty-eight percent of these women are in formal post-internship employment, 25 percent are in their own businesses, five percent are self-employed and seven have no occupation.", said.

For Selvester, he says that globally there are considerable disparities in the use and access to digital technologies and that in Mozambique inequalities manifest themselves mainly in gender and poverty.

According to an investigation carried out in the suburban areas of the cities of Maputo and Beira, it showed that only 13 percent of young people of the lowest standard use computers frequently.

"Living in poorer households reduces young people's opportunities to regularly interact with ICT”, stressed Kerry Selvester.

On the other hand, the President of the Municipal Council of Maputo, Eneas Comiche, underlined that the results shared in this training show that young adolescents deserve public attention, as they continue to face various challenges for a healthy transition from childhood to adulthood.

"Technical-professional training facilitates the empowerment of young people and women, in particular those in vulnerable situations, and promotes their integration into the labor market, where digital knowledge makes a lot of difference“, said Eneas Comiche.

"Our strategy in professional training in the digital field aims to develop an education oriented to the demands of the labor market and to meet the needs in terms of technological advances, as well as to increase production, productivity and competitiveness“, Finished.

Those benefiting from technological training praised the MuvaTech project, which, in addition to knowledge in digital technologies, enabled them to get a job.
