Mozambique: Technological platform modernizes job search in the country

A technological platform, created and conceived by talented young Mozambicans, is automating the management of the process of recruiting and selecting talent for employment throughout the country.

In an interview with the informative supplement Economia & Negócios, technology from the company WhireLab allows companies and recruitment institutions present in Mozambique to hire manpower in line with their strategic objectives, all of this very quickly , reliability and efficiency, enabling them to improve the work of the Human Resources departments.

Speaking to the supplement, Santos Mabjaia, Executive Director of WhireLab, says that at first the platform was presented as a job page, where companies could only advertise their vacancies, but consequently “evolved into talent management, starting to screen CVs, assessing the technical and behavioral skills of candidates, face-to-face and online interviews, and even hiring…".

The entrepreneur even says that “we realized that companies were valuing technical skills more. As a result, we found that new employees were dismissed due to a lack of behavioral skills, because the candidates were not aligned with the values and culture of the companies.".

Due to the reasons mentioned above, the WhireLab team decided to add a test library to the already existing technological platform, which consists of a talent assessment tool in the recruitment and selection process.

"after launching the test library, we found that we were creating another problem, as having knowledge about a certain area does not mean knowing how to evaluate people in that area. To fill this gap, we approach experienced professionals in certain sectors of activity to create tests, which are subsequently made available on our platform.” informs Mabjaia.

Consequently, WhireLab added interviews to the functionality of its technological platform, as it is through it that recruiters get to know potential candidates. Another interesting and innovative fact for the young people was to carry out the interviews in two ways, face-to-face and online, which adapted to the Mozambican reality, all in an environment that allowed the recruiting company to define the ideal interview model for the vacancy that it intends to hire.

Currently in Mozambique companies have received applications via email, which in the opinion of the Executive Director is not very practical to process them, due to their volume, which only makes sorting difficult.

"as a solution, companies can create a digital candidate database or submit their resume databases to our platform and, thus, it does the proper screening” he added.

In recent times, assessing talent as part of the selection process is a frequent practice due to its effectiveness in predicting the success of candidates in the job for which they will be hired, as well as their suitability to the company's culture and team dynamics.
