A Mozambique Telecom, SA. (Tmcel) proceeded with the pre-launch of 5G technology, following the technological modernization and expansion, framed in the context of the development strategy of the National Telecommunications Network.

At the act, held in partnership with Huawei, the Chinese company that is implementing the project, the deputy minister of Transport and Communications, Manuela Rebelo, said that 5G technology will bring major changes to public and private services, boosting economic development. of Mozambique, similar to what is already happening in the world.

"5G technology is the highest cutting-edge technology in the telecommunications industry and, at Tmcel, it will initially operate in conjunction with the 4G network, before its fully autonomous development over time.”, said the minister, adding that this technology will allow the country to strengthen its base for growth through the intensification of economic activities in the dominant sectors and the diversification of others.

As Rebelo emphasized, the advantages that 5G brings to Mozambique are vast, allowing the country to overcome many structural, systemic and development challenges, using next generation technologies and solutions, which are currently available in the areas of medicine, agriculture, education , among other sectors.

In turn, the chairman of the board of directors of Tmcel, Mahomed Rafique Jusob, considered it to be a special moment as it demonstrates that Mozambique is on the wave of modern technology in the world.

"It is a service that not all countries have. It is a high quality service to achieve greater connectivity at a speed up to 10 times higher than the speed currently existing in the country”, emphasized Jusob, adding that 5G technology is not owned by operators, but a service for Mozambicans.

Finally, the director general of Huawei Mozambique, António Hou, stated that “together we must work tirelessly to make high-quality telecommunications reach everyone, keeping people connected🇧🇷 A big step was taken and a new and more efficient port of communication was introduced today in Mozambique, he said.

Thus, Mozambique is among the first African countries to commercialize the 5th generation of wireless communication technology, after the Republics of South Africa and Kenya, with Tmcel being one of the first African operators, majority-owned by the State, pre-launch the technology in reference.
