Mozambique: TVM intends to remain at the forefront of information

Television of Mozambique (TVM) intends to continue in its role of informing, as a public service provider, as well as forming society, through civic, political and social awareness of the country's citizens.

This opinion came from the Director of the Information Office (GABINFO), Emília Moiane, speaking at the 1st TVM National Meeting, which took place on the theme “Sustainable Television Production in a Digital Environment”. For the Director, TVM must deepen the promotion of values ​​of consolidation and deepening of democracy, strengthening the unity and identity of Mozambique, without forgetting the defense of the homeland and the country's sovereignty.

"TVM, in addition to being the first television news organization in the country, is the largest in terms of presence in Mozambican territory, through its delegations present in each of the country's provinces and even in some points with sub-delegations, hence its nickname of mother television. Therefore, TVM must ensure a balance between safeguarding the public television service and the availability of quality content to all segments of our society, maintaining its position as a leader in the television market and as a reference for the Mozambican people.”, said Emília Moiane.

On the other hand, Élio Jonasse, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TVM, stressed that within the framework of the new challenges, the priority lies with renewing the programming schedule, in order to offer increasingly attractive content to potential viewers.

"We are aware that it is only with competitive programs that meet the quality standard that we can retain audiences and, as a result, make the channel attractive for advertisers, with the aim of increasing revenue.”, he informed.

The event also served to assume that TVM is going through financial difficulties, namely a great imbalance between income and expenses and, in order to reverse this situation, it was pointed out the optimization of expenses and the exploration of other sources of income that may attract more advertisers.
