O Google is today (27 / 09) celebrating another anniversary and has decided to mark the date with a doodle on its homepage celebrating its 21th anniversary.

On 27 September 1998 Sergey Brin e Larry Page featured a 'paper' on the launch of a prototype 'large-scale search engine', ”read the page dedicated to Doodle.

Doodle is active in virtually every territory where Google is present and gives an opportunity for those interested to know where the curious search engine and company name come from. In addition to the search engine, Google today provides services such as Gmail, Google maps, Google translator, Google Drive, among others.

“We chose our system name, Google, because it's a common way to spell googol, or 10100, and it fits well with our goal of building large-scale search engines,” wrote both founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page at the time.

Although the name "Google" is a joke with the word "googol" created by Milton Sirotta, nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, the "Google" brand was created through a "mistake" and not a direct "creation" by Larry. Page as many sites claim.
