Namibia blocks calls to Angola

Namíbia has seen, in recent times, a series of problems with regard to international calls, since there have been many cyber attacks on companies using the system PABX (a feature that allows remote access to the office line for making international calls).

For this reason the Telecom Namibia decided to temporarily block international calls to 17 countries, where Angola is included in the list. The reason for this blockade is a fraud that is happening in their international call services, which in February alone has already cost Namibian companies around 750 one thousand USD.

The main cause of this block is that companies that use the system PABX, have recently suffered attacks from Hackers who manage to pirate several lines and manage a kind of informal telecommunications operator within the country. Trying to solve the problem, Telecom Namibia was able to identify the 17 countries in which connections are frequently made by Hackers who can gain access to the system. Telecom Namibia has thus decided to block calls to these countries.

In addition to Angola, calls to destinations such as:  Sierra Leone, Burundi, Somalia, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Tunisia, Bosnia, Sao Tome, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Monaco, Cuba, Guyana, Herzegovina, Macedonia, Albania, Papua New Guinea.
