During Expansão's VI Telecom forum which took place on the 15th of this month, at the intercontinental hotel in Luanda, those responsible for mobile operators addressed various issues in the sector such as the sharing of infrastructures between telecommunications companies.

During the round table, Gonçalo Farias, administrator of Africell, revealed that the sharing of infrastructure between the Africell and Unitel did not take place.

In turn, Miguel Geraldes, CEO of Unitel, argued that sharing was not possible because Africell is also his client. “We provide circuits to Africell in areas outside Luanda“He said.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Unitel, a company with the largest infrastructure network in the country, says that Angola is in the best positions on the continent in terms of telecommunications infrastructure.

"I know several national fibers in the region and several countries, we only compare ourselves with South Africa, and at the moment there are already comparisons with Kenya. In addition to these, there is no other country where there is a national level of national optical fiber as we have in Angola“He said.

Therefore, he considers that the country has a “competitive and quite mature” level of infrastructure, which requires long-term planning.

Marcus Valdez, head of Dstv Angola, in turn, said that it partly depends on the infrastructures made by the Government and operators, therefore, an advance in infrastructure improves the quality of investment and supply of its products.
