The American Basketball League, NBA, has decided to take its first step into the world of e-sports.
As a result of a partnership with Take-Two Interactive Software, responsible for the NBA 2K game, the NBA announced that it will create its own virtual basketball league.
The system will be very similar to the real one, there will be a global draft of players, the competition, called NBA 2K eLeague, is expected to start for 2018.
According to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, the plan is to bring all 30 teams that make up the American basketball league into the project. Eight to 12 teams are expected to compete in the NBA 2K eLeague from the beginning in 2018.
The competition rules will follow the NBA model. Each team plays 82 matches in the regular season, and the best of the playoffs fight for the title. The final will be held in one of the NBA's arenas.
The entire championship must be played in five months and the prize pool should be around $ 250 thousand. Each team will choose five players to represent it, through a draft with players from around the world.
