NCR suffered a major cyberattack that week and which conditioned its billing for several days, where hackers demanded a financial ransom from the Angolan company, reveals Novo Jornal.

According to that weekly, which obtained the information through an anonymous source, the company that operates in the IT and technology segment did not give in to the demands and filed a criminal complaint with the Cyber ​​Crimes department, attached to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) .

"Last Sunday, the 25th, there was a cyber attack on the servers of the four companies in the NCR universe. It will have been on the transition from Sunday to Monday, since we, still on Sunday, detected the full functioning of the servers and, therefore, all the information was OK, it was safeguarded, there was no situation. On Monday morning, our technology teams detected that we were victims of an attack“, informed the board of NCR.

For António Pinto, adviser to the Directorate-General of NCR Angola, he said that it was a ransomwere-type attack, which is a kidnapping followed by a type of ransom, through which hackers improperly access the institution's data, encrypting and blocking the information found, to later demand a counterpart for its unblocking.

According to the advisor, in the message in English announcing the computer attack, the hackers did not identify themselves nor did they advance the values ​​in exchange for unlocking the encrypted data, but giving three days to conclude the negotiations, to which the Angolan company did not accept and leading to a great system recovery process through the action of a group of Angolan technicians.

"We immediately took down the system, therefore the internet connection, to, first of all, assess the damage, what had been compromised, what data had been encrypted. Until Wednesday (28), we were unable to guarantee that the data had been accessed, especially personal data. There is no concrete evidence that these hackers have accessed our customers' personal data“, assured.
