Yesterday Microsoft invited the press, partners and enthusiasts to introduce the new operating system, Windows 10 and the vision of the company for years to come. The last Microsoft presentations made it a certain level of skepticism, but the news presented did not leave the audience indifferent.

1. Windows 10 will be free in the first year

For those who have Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1, you can start celebrating, Microsoft will make the new operating system available at zero cost ... at least in the first year.

Windows 10 will be available for PCs within the next week and can be downloaded at official website

2. Cortana Personal Assistant available for all devices

Cortana has been integrated into the Windows 10 desktop version. According to Microsoft, Cortana will be the main search engine for Windows 10, and it was programmed to have enough intelligence to maintain a natural conversation with users. The new version of Cortana was planned down to the smallest detail, offering “help” in the most common tasks, for example looking for a specific type of file. There is also the integration of Cortana with the new Microsoft browser, Spartan, which will ensure interaction with the system through voice commands.

Cortana will be available in 7 more languages. It remains to be seen whether Portuguese was included this time ...

3. New browser: Spartan (Goodbye Internet Explorer !?)

The rumor that everyone wanted to confirm: Microsoft is working on a new browser!

Before they throw a huge party, let's say that this new browser is based on the rendering engine  Trident from Microsoft, the same as Internet Explorer. Still, Microsoft promises that Spartan will be more flexible than Internet Explorer and has a card up its sleeve, integration with the Cortana assistant, which will allow interaction with the user at the highest level.

During the presentation, a very useful feature was demonstrated, making notes directly in the browser, just click anywhere on the page and make the note.

It is not yet known if Spartan will be present in the version that will be released over the next few days.

4. Return from the Start Menu

One more complaint was answered, we will have the return of the beloved “Start Menu”, which this time is a junction between the traditional Start Menu and the Modern UI introduced in Windows 8.
