Last year the former CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer confirmed that a version of Office for the iPad was in development. Although recently there have been some rumors that the company is prioritizing the development of a touch version of Office for its own platform, they still intend launch Office for the iPad in the first half of the current year, so its development was accelerated.

Office for iPad was originally designed to arrive at the end of 2014 according to some sources, but changing plans means that Microsoft plans to ensure the success of its franchise as soon as possible in the devices. Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), since iWorks will be available for free to new users.

There are still no details available on what we can expect in terms of functionality right now, but Microsoft will certainly launch a fairly simplified version compared to desktop software that has hundreds of features that certain users can not even use. An integration with the OneDrive it is also a likely fact for you to be able to save documents in the Microsoft cloud.

The iPhone version of Office was released in June of 2013, the package included the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint but can only use who has a subscription to Oficce 365 service which has the minimum price of 5 USD per month.

Despite good intentions to please users of Apple devices, Microsoft still runs a huge risk of failure because its biggest rival and owner of the platform also offers a similar service that is free for new users, iWork.
