After the Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft and other companies in the video game sector have announced, in recent weeks, that they will not be present at the E3 this year, the organization to confirm the cancellation of the event.

IGN underlines that, according to a statement from the Entertainment Software Association, the event will continue to exist. However, the plans that existed for holding E3 2023 “did not gather the necessary interest to be executed with the grandeur, force and impact that the industry deserves“, can be read in the document.

The event was planned for the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th of July in Los Angeles. This would be the first in-person edition since 2019. In 2022 it was also not held.

Despite the cancellation, a summer that is poor in news related to video games is not expected. It is known that Ubisoft is organizing an event in its own name that should take place in July. Nintendo and PlayStation have a habit of organizing their own events in June.

Even absent from the face-to-face event, Microsoft planned to be part of a series of digital presentations. The cancellation will force the company to present its news in a different context, so we can expect news from the brand in this regard.

Up continues the Summer Game Fest, by journalist Geoff Keighley. The event is scheduled for the 8th of June.
